Okay, first off, here's a little more info about her for those curious. She's the Super High School Level Gamer, which is another way of saying she's the most avid, hardcore gamer you'll ever meet...I think. Thanks to her constant gaming, however, she's often very sleepy, and will doze off at a moment's notice. Even when standing. She'll be breaking the fourth wall slightly to make references to video game conventions like fetch quests and timed hits, but she won't be naming any specific games just in case (unless someone wants me to???). Let's hope she won't need to go through video game withdrawal!

 Hello, I'm Lills bringing in my first character to High Seas, one superstitious Mr. Joshamee Gibbs from Pirates of the Caribbean! He is coming in at the end of World's End (Teddy bear included). So he is not going to be pleased about a lot of things, from female pirates (It's after all terrible bad luck to have a woman aboard a ship) to being stuck in the Locker once again, especially after a certain squid face villain has already met his end.

Greetings and salutations! Smitty here, with my first character, Winry Rockbell, from Fullmetal Alchemist. She's taken at the very end of the series (think manga/Brotherhood, rather than 2003/Conqueror of Shamballa). Coming from a land-locked country (with even few rivers!), this is all going to be very new to her. We'll see if she gets seasick...

As for me, I've heard good things, and have been a fan of pirates for...well, a lot longer than that series of Disney movies (Swashbuckler!, Cutthroat Island, pretty much anything with Errol Flynn).

Hello, everyone! My name is Silas and, as you can see, I'm here with the one, the only, Captain Jack Sparrow.

For those of you who have seen the movies, I'm taking Jack right after his death in Dead Man's Chest. For those of you who haven't seen the movies, well, here's an easy summary:

Jack Sparrow is a pirate. The best pirate. I don't care what Barbossa has been telling you, it's all lies. He acts perpetually drunk and nonsensical, but he actually knows what he's doing. Maybe. Most of the time. He's manipulative, rum-soaked, selfish... but somewhere, underneath that, he's got this really annoying moral streak that led to his death via kraken.

He's going to be under the impression that this is Davy Jones' Locker, so I'm sure we'll all have a lovely and wonderful time.

Hello HighSeas! Oh gosh I'm always terrible at ooc intros oops I'm Dessi and I'm bringing an anthropomorphic representation of the country of England, as seen from Hetalia. Where he's prickly and a little hotheaded, he's also somewhat of a dork and can be surprisingly amicable. He knows a thing or ten about sailing and piracy privateering and you are warned: England does enjoy telling stories and is quite good at it, but he's not so adept at keeping his nostalgia in check.

England appears to be in his early twenties (23) but he is in fact at least fifteen-hundred years old.

HELLO GUYS! This is Jon, Celes' player, bringing you yet another creepy girl with pigtails/twindrills, except hers are actually real, unlike Gambler McLyingskirts.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Code of Princess, which is probably most of you, it's a 3DS game that parodies fantasy games as a whole. The story and characters don't take themselves too seriously and the characters are also pretty self-aware, so as you can imagine it's a fun time. There's also these 2 guys who sound like they belong in a Monty Python movie. It's great.

ANYWAY, this lady right here is none other than Lady Zozo. She's a gloomy necromancer toting around an undead body because her real body was stolen a while back. Despite this, she's actually not that bad a person once you get to know her. Though she kinda sucks when it comes to talking with people...but she tries.

Hello! I'm RM, one of the new players this round, bringing in the miniature Hero of Time from the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. He's fresh out of the Kokiri forest for the very first time, right after witnessing the death of his Tree Dad and never having seen the world outside of the forest before.

I play him as both mostly illiterate and psychologically mute at this point in his life due to how the other Kokiri are so closely tied to their fairies. So his communication abilities now that he is sans Navi are pretty limited until he learns to talk properly, read, and write. He's pretty good at drawing though! So expect some childish drawings every so often.

A few housekeeping items:

♦ Both the Taken Characters and Player Contacts pages have been updated! If you haven't commented on either of those yet, please do so! Also, if there's a mistake anywhere or if someone was accidentally missed, let us know!

♦ ALL CHARACTERS IN THE GAME SHOULD HAVE A TAG! Please use these anytime you create or comment on a post in piratejournal and high_seas! This will make it much easier for YOU if you ever want to go back and find a post your character tagged into! If your character doesn't have a tag, let a mod know and we'll create one ASAP.

♦ For the sake of clarity and making things easier to read, all piratejournal posts should be marked with some version of [WRITTEN] or [VOICE]. Just stick it in the subject line of your posts/comments. This way we know exactly how your characters are communicating with each other! Also, please remember that those are the only two methods of communication the journal has! They DO NOT have video!

♦ New players, remember that we have the Island Registry that you can use once you set sail, as well as the Ship Registry/Crews post. As your characters join crews or form their own, make sure you keep us updated with who is where!

♦ We've combined the CR & Friending Memes this month, so you guys can go check that out. We'll give everyone a few more days to get sorted and then throw up the Looking For Crew Meme, too!

ACTIVITY CHECK CHANGES

Alright, so we're going to revamp this a bit. Honestly, when this game was first being discussed and created, we never anticipated that we would have so many characters! And so quickly!! You guys are crazy.

And awesome. ♥

But anyway, we're fully aware that 100+ piratejournal entries is a lot to read through in one month, and it's possible that number will only grow.

SO.

We are going to switch over to a Bimonthly Activity Check. The new requirements will be:

♦ 1 network post to piratejournal
♦ 2 of any of the following:

  - An additional post to piratejournal
  - A log post in high_seas
  - One thread that is at least ten comments long with any character
  - Two threads that are at least five comments long with two different characters

Please note that you will now be required to have THREE things to pass AC every two months! But in turn, you only need one journal post in a 2-month span, rather than one every month.

YOU'RE WELCOME.

This is not going to go into effect immediately. AC will still run as usual for October! Here's how it will go:

September newbies: You guys had a free pass last month, so one post + one other is still required by the end of October to pass AC!

October newbies: The one post requirement can be waived for you all, but we're still asking for one other!

November newbies: Well, obviously there are none yet, but starting in November we will switch over to Bimonthly AC, as in every two months you will need one post + two others.

December newbies: Any characters coming in halfway between Activity Checks will just need their two others! The one post required will be waived.

This means there will not be an Activity Check at the end of November. Rather, the next one after October will be DECEMBER. And then February, April, June, August, October again, etc etc.

Hopefully that makes sense!! The Activity Check page has been updated to reflect these changes. Feel free to spread the word! And if you have any questions, please ask!



OCTOBER EVENTS

Oh ho ho, we've got some fun things planned for this month... One mini event, maybe a shard or two to find, but the BIG event to watch out for will be hinted at in-game starting next week.

Halloween wouldn't be complete without some ghost ships sailing the seas, right?

Look for a more detailed Event Post to go up toward the end of the week!
