February 13th-16th

Starting on the evening of the 13th, crystal bowls filled with heart shaped candy will start appearing around the ship, written with words such as ‘hug me’, ‘kiss me’ etc. Characters will have a mild to strong craving to eat one of these candies (depending on your preference). Seems harmless enough, but upon eating the candy, your character will want to do whatever is written on said candy to the first person they lay eyes on. On the night of the 16th, the candies will simply fly away, leaving the bowl behind.

Example:
Character A eats a candy that says: “hug me”. Spots Character B. Character A is compelled to hug Character B.

The effect of said candy will wear off either after the action is completed or two hours have passed.

Introducing Hardmode: Locals are affected by the candy, too. This, however, is completely optional. If you would rather the locals be unaffected then by all means play it that way.

Q&A

Can my character resist eating the candy? How much can my character resist eating the candy?
That is entirely up to you. You can have your character not compelled to eat at all, or trying to keep themselves from digging into the candy at every second.

Can my character resist performing the act? How much can my character resist performing the act?
Same as above.

What if I dump the candies overboard?
A new bowl will pop up mysteriously within the hour. The best bet if you don’t want them is to just keep them hidden.

What exactly are my options for what is written for the candy?
Anything you want. Generally something in the romantic/cuddly range, though.

Can I go nsfw?
Yup! Feel free! Just make sure to warn accordingly.

The candies will fly away?
Yes.

Special note: Despite it being the middle of winter, the evening of the 13th is mild and clear, sprinkled with starlit skies and a clear moon. In fact, all nights will be like this through the 16th and the days will be breezy and balmy, the skies blue and full of lazy clouds.

To keep in mind: Make sure that you have the other mun’s permission before having your character do anything to their character. This is for IC fun (and drama) not OOC drama. Remember, warn accordingly and most importantly -- do not assume consent. Please to be asking first!

Hey guys! We plurked about it last night, but here is the official post:

**MOD APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!**

We're looking to bring on another person primarily to help us with apps, but also to contribute to game ideas and plots, get in on discussions, and help with little things across the board as they come up.

Please only apply if this is something you are TRULY interested in doing! Modding, while fun and rewarding, is a lot of work and requires you to be available fairly often! We need creative, outgoing, trustworthy individuals on the team who are willing to commit to the job and who are confident enough to be a face of [community profile] high_seas during both the good and, should they occur, bad times.

If this sounds like a position you'd love to have, please read the entire application post and submit your app over there! All comments on that post are screened.

APPS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL FEBRUARY 20TH.

Our goal is to have a final decision by March 1st at the latest.

THANK YOU!!

The island for the month is...

SWEETWATER

[Distance from Isla Empieza]: 5 days.

[Direction from Isla Empieza]: East.

[Terrain]: The first thing one notices upon arriving on Sweetwater isn't the water, it's the trees. Tall trees with branches only near the top create walkways throughout the island, each path seeming like an eternal lover's lane, picturesque enough to seem planned. There is no ominous darkness here, however, always just enough light filtering through to make a pretty picture rather than a creepy one.

The next feature that one will notice is the water. Ponds rest at various intervals among the paths, the water always very clear and bright. Some are small enough to barely be more than puddles, while others are certainly big enough to swim in. There are no fish in the ponds, but animals do come to drink there, now and then. Any woodland animal one might think of may be seen here, but they have a strangely cartoonish quality to them: large-eyed, a little friendlier than most wild creatures, and quite curious about humans.

[Weather]: There are two types of weather on Sweetwater: cheerful warm summer day and cheerful warm summer day with light rain. The leaves are perpetually green, and there's never really a serious need for shelter. Even the light rain is warm enough that few travelers would feel a need to hide from it.

[Is the island inhabited?]: Only by a few scattered mystic types. There's no evidence of any real homes or settlements. The few humans seen wandering will typically drink from the pools, speak little, and give away little information besides the fact that anyone who drinks needs nothing more.

[If so, what is the culture like here?]: he few inhabitants are too solitary to create much real culture.

[Island peculiarities]: The water in the ponds has some very special properties. First, anyone who drinks from any of the ponds on Sweetwater will find it tastes very fresh, pure, and sweet. Hunger will be slaked along with thirst and - no matter how tired the drinker was before - they will feel as refreshed as if they had a full night's sleep.

Of course, this isn't the only effect of the water. Each pool also has secondary effects, some of which will be more noticeable than others. Some may act like wine or spirits, causing intoxication. Others may cause visions, many of which will seem to show the individual's own past or future. Yet other ponds might cause great feelings of joy, affection, kindness, or cheerfulness.

There are no purely "negative" effects such as violent urges or hatred, but consuming too much of the water could cause a sort of backlash of negative emotion after it wears off.

Leaving the island after drinking the water there will cause great thirst for the first few days afterward, no matter how much regular water one drinks. Any water taken from the island will taste very bitter when drunk elsewhere, and likely make the drinker quite nauseous.

Drop
Sorry to say this, but my ability to play this muse has currently run it's course so I am going to be dropping him, and thus High Seas. To anyone who had me friended on Plurk, feel free to drop me. If the muse ever crawls out of his bottle, I'll app him again. But until then, it's no fair to sit on him (Especially when he is a fun character to play, muse permitting).

I might come back with him or a new muse entirely, but I will be back one day.
