At around 10pm on the 31st, those with shards (who are still of their right mind) will see the shards flashing dimly red. Over the course of the next few days, the pulse will increase in brightness and intensity until, by the second, it's almost a beacon as faint rumbling sounds can be heard intermittently over the water.
