Essentially the difficulty of the captains means less of a chance of winning a roll. In other words, the range of numbers gets smaller with increasing difficulty level.
For example...
You won Captain A who is easy-medium with a range of 25. In other words, if the Captain's winning number is 50, the crew picked number must fall within 25 numbers of 50. So anything between 25-75 means the crew will beat the Captain.
Note this is not an obligation. If you'd rather not play out a loss, you don't have to engage at all...but if you do choose to play how you lose is up to you; whether captured, killed or able to flee. We do ask, though, that the loss (especially if you flee) reflect the difficulty of the captain.
Winners along with the ranges of their captains will be displayed below.
