**EVENT POST**

January 21st-25th

It's now time to vote on the course of action.

There are a few notes for each option, which are listed below.

Most importantly, though, is that there does not need to be a consensus. Every option will factor in to what happens. How your character votes should reflect on what they will be focused on or the course they will personally pursue. The vote, though, is what will be ultimately successful.

For instance, if the majority of the vote falls to killing the Corpse King, we still encourage characters who would to desecrate the shrines. They won't manage to take care of all of them before Hawtrey dies, but the destruction of them will reflect in the battle.

By the same token, if the majority votes to go after the shrines, characters are still welcome to take Hawtrey on. They just won't succeed in killing him before the shrines are desecrated.

For the optional objective, please vote according to what your character would ultimately want done with the book, based on the notes available.

To vote, simply comment to the header that reflects what your character wants to do. Only one vote per character. A plotting header has been provided for coordinating efforts.

Voting closes at 11:59 PM (EST) on January 20th.

Objective: Prevent the Corpse King from reviving Davy Jones and giving him a physical body.
Option A: Do nothing. Continue on with daily business, avoid Noctem entirely.
Notes: The "official" opt-out option. If your character wants no part in this conflict, feel free to vote this option and go about their business.
Option B: The direct approach. Seek out the Corpse King on Noctem and engage him in a fight to the death.
Notes: This will be a brutal battle, and Hawtrey will have more than just his natural skill to protect him. There is definitely magic afoot.
Option C: The indirect approach. Find the four shrines on Noctem and desecrate them before the ritual can be completed.
Notes: The shrines are protected by wards. Different ones will require different solutions.

Optional Objective: Cat has asked for a book to be delivered to her. It is with Hawtrey's supplies.
Notes: The book has a simple latch lock. However, every time it's opened, another tally mark appears on the latch. It starts at three. Inside, the book is written in a language that, even in this world, is dead. It will take at least six months to start translating. The style of writing is akin to calligraphy, the pen obviously pressed into the pages. There are drawings and diagrams, presumably of magic rituals, that range from ways to set stones as wards to what appear to be sacrifices.
Option A: Deliver the book. Someone (or a group of 'delegates') can take the book with the intention of giving it to Cat.
Option B: Keep the book. Take the book and keep it among a crew or in a person's possession but do not deliver it to Cat.
Option C: Destroy the book. Burn the book before leaving the island.

So is it one vote per character per objective or is it one vote per character total?

i.e. since Robin weighed in on the Optional Objective, can she still weigh in on the Main Objective? Or is voting for what happens to the book her one and only vote?

Followin' the captain on this one. And if we're successful, maybe we can join in on Hawtrey bashing?

After what happened with the orphan boat, we shouldn't do anything until we know what this book really is.

KEEP

[personal profile] thetruehistorian 2015-01-18 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
If we're going to have a chance we'll have to steal it for ourselves. Cat and Dog won't be any help except when they need us, and Meep is too afraid of their wrath to be of any use either. They can make a copy and then give it to Cat if it's that much of an issue.

Remy will want to give the book to Cat and will - at the very least - try to get it to her even if the consensus is to do something else with it.

If the vote does go through to give the book to Cat - he'll want to either physically take pages from it to try and figure out what it is for, or do rubbings from the writing since it's so heavily written into the pages. I don't know if Cat would know what kind of condition she should expect the book in or not but if she does then the etchings would be fine!

Later, the pages could be given to someone who can figure out what the hell is going on with them to give players some kind of idea about what angle Cat is working from - obviously the mods can choose what the pages say.

If that goes down, Marco will try to copy everything in the book, just in case.

(Babby Marco is no different.)

Robin would just like enough time to make a copy of the book. She will work 'round the clock copying it if she has to, but if Cat wants it that badly then there's probably information in it that they will need, and it would be best to have well before Cat or Dog decides they're "ready" for it.
