In the early dawn hours of the 13th, the shards will hum faintly, audible only to those in their vicinity and glow with a soft red light that dies down after a minute.

Half an hour later?

Pears. Lots of pears. Raining everywhere, land and sea, from the morning of the 13th well into the evening of the same. Also some feathers intermixed, floating gently down, as if some aspects of this strange event didn't quite make it.

What kind of pears you ask? Big pears, small pears, some as big as your head, in all colors and varieties falling all around you. The pears are all edible and have a variety of tastes, some sweet, some sour, some savory, all peary. You may get hit with one or two golden pairs (eating not recommended) or chip your tooth in a pear with a diamond pit!

At around eleven pm or so, the rain will die down with only a few stragglers making their way down onto decks, sails and unsuspecting heads and then all will be calm. ... for a little while at least.
