Taking back Isla Empieza

Okay, so!

The IC plotting has gone on for a bit, and I wanted to get the OOC aspect down. We're past the recruitment phase at this point and we're into the STRATERGIZIN' part.

Tojiko and the other tacticians have come up with quite a few ideas and you can find them largely summarized in THIS THREAD (please read before commenting)

OOCly, does anyone else have any other ideas, and how are we going to implement this? And, if I recall, the mods have something still in mind, too, so we need that piece of the puzzle, too.

I am in general liking what I'm seeing. While I WOULD like to see what the mods have in mind before tossing out any more concrete thoughts, one thing comes to mind in that we should probably figure out who on what ships are going to be staying on to fend off Navy at sea/initiate counteroffensives there, and who'll be going ashore to escort newbies towards safety.

Karen's committed to her infiltration plan unless it gets really definitively shot down. Nav in, find some new arrivals, nav out, probably get into a fight along the way.

Can they enter that way?

I thought the Nav on-island was a one way trip.

...good question. Hm.

Crap. Yeah, confirmed, the Backwater Brig Nav is one-way. Although Karen doesn't know that so she's still going to try.
oceanicbutterfly: ([a] Aqua Stream!)

Oh! Yes, that's very plausible. If she hangs off the back and fires an Aqua Stream under the surface, that would do the trick.

I CANNOT APOLOGIZE FOR THIS FUCKER AND SMOKER ENOUGH JUST SO YOU KNOW.

Like. Big Bold capital letters. AND A MASSIVE NOTE THAT I AM DISSENTING VOCALLY AND LOUDLY FROM MY OWN CHARACTERS SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY.

- That said, I do know the The Straw Hats, and the Spades did have "plans" (captains go crazy, crew just improvises because Fuck their lives that's why) in mind that they can't ICly deviate from (stubborn characters are a PAIN IN THE ASS /strangles Marco on behalf of everyone)

BUT BY ALL MEANS; please have fun plotting around everything. I promise NO MATTER WHAT my characters say, they have no intentions to stop anyone unless you want to specifically plot that (feeeeeel free because I want to punch my own characters so you know; your characters can take advantage or something)

Maribelle, Smoker & the Shepherds PROBABLY will actually try to slip in and help rescue people/fight on the mainland, but Smoker is (obviously) very vocal about not wanting to kill marines and as such will try to make sure their ship stays away from any battles. Ironies considering that's a pirate move and boldly fighting ala Ace & Luffy would be a marine one.

We haven't discussed this much with the Alcyone crew, but like I mentioned in our thread, we're not really big enough to do much in combat -- we have two fighters, one moderately skilled teenager and two unarmed children. So yeah. That said, the aforementioned fighters are also spellcasters (with fire, earth, water/ice, lightning and wind), so they could throw out ranged attacks against ships and/or work with the fog.

But yeah, unless the rest of the crew comes up with something specific, we can fill in whatever role is necessary. Probably better off as a distraction.

Moderately skilled!?

Thanks a lot Jade!

But no, seriously, we'd probably be creamed in any kind of actual combat. We'd make a great distraction.

I do favor if it's only the harbor that's blocked Horatio's plan of slipping a ground team onto the island via long boat . Way I see it to take over an island all you have to do is park a warship in the harbor and have troops arrest any unfamiliar faces.

And trying to move people is tricky we need a sandbar to meet up with for final planing.

Oh, I'm sorry. I meant to say one moderately skilled seven-year-old. My bad.

Oh I started a list more or less or tried to. I'll work on it when I get on that computer.

Speaking for the Sinewave, a detachment of the crew (at most six people) are planning on hitching a ride on another ship and sneaking into port, to fight behind the lines and help get newcomers off the island! At least, that's the plan as I'm aware, and we're still looking for a ship to take us. We could buddy up with other crews planning the same thing, if possible?
jadethenecromancer: (putting on my serious face here)

[personal profile] jadethenecromancer 2013-12-07 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
That could work. Piers won't be able to do it for very long because his magic pool is kind of small, but Jade should be able to do decent damage for a bit longer. Shame he can't summon meteorites at this canon point yet...

And that sounds like a great plan indeed, save the problem that you mentioned! I suppose, if they hitched a ride with a ship that was smaller/sneaked in amidst the larger ships as they provided a front-line distraction, perhaps they could get close enough to the island where they wouldn't need to travel by longboat, or travel as quickly? Or if there were some way for a couple people to travel underwater, that could clear up room in the longboat for those who couldn't? I'm not 100% aware of the abilities of everyone planning to approach the flank, so obviously this matter is flexible!

Or we could take the lame way out and just split the landing party into two groups, one utilizing Karen's "motorboat" strategy in the daytime and a second coming in slower during the night, but that's not nearly as exciting as using magic or the like

Not sure we can afford to give anyone up right now since we've had people drop and others on hiatus/off-ship, so we have just enough crew to manage the caravel. I'll wait for more input from the others before I say anything definite, though -- you never know when the kids decide to do something reckless no Asbel stay on the ship
