Shard Event Sign Up

You have until 11:59pm EST on the 20th to sign up. Please put your crew name and a number between 1-100 in the entry. Only one representative per crew please. The winners will be announced sometime the 21st.

You can sign up for all three shards if you wish but, unless there are extenuating circumstances, you'll only win one.

Three things to keep in mind:

1) If you sign up for a shard, you must be able to participate in the log itself to the best of your ability. In other words, no waltzing in, sniping the shard and waltzing back out again. This is going to be a tough fight and while we don't want to put undue stress on anyone, we'd like for those fighting for the shards to reflect that. We'll give you plenty of time to get in on the log but if we see little to no participation from your crew, we reserve the right to switch the shard to the next available candidate.

2) Remember that whoever you are fighting, unless it is the Pirate Witch, needs to have fun, too. Mods will announce the winners and hook you up with plurk names, so feel free to plot away the eventual shard removal. Killing is not necessary either.

3) Just as an fyi, mod heavy crews will also be signing up to potentially receive shards-- to that end, the numbers will be rolled and announced by our NPC mod, Chizu, who plays Miss Margie and has herself no stake in the game.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask below.

Stone Nest Shard

The Place

The stone nest is a rock out-cropping set in a sem-circle at least 2 leagues (roughly 10 miles) in diameter. The rocks tower well above the tallest ships and are lines with crags and nests of various seabirds. Inside this circle the water looks like a mirrored pond, and it’s almost as if something lies in wait. But that’s only because something does. Welcome to the Kraken Nest.

The Kraken

Closely resembling a squid, the Kraken can reach up to 200 feet from end to end. Fortunately these are babies, soon to start on their next life cycle and so are in the 20-50 foot range of slavering thrashing tentacles. These tentacles are soft and can be cut off or shot but will likely only make the thing mad. The larger ones can snap a smaller ship in half. They will be active when a ship enters through the stones, but their verocity is up to you.

The Shard

For the lucky crew who wins the shard, it will be found between the eyes of the largest kraken, because of course it is. It’s thin, roughly the length of a man’s thumb and can easily be spotted shining red and pulsing on the kraken’s pale mottled skin. How you get it is up to you.

How this will work

All the crews who signed up, please select and post a number between 1-100 in this entry. The mod will choose the winner by 5pm tomorrow or once all the numbers are up, whichever comes first.

As for the rest of it, it’s entirely up to you how you want to play/backtag/handwave it.
